Section titled “General”Do I need an account to use EstimateQuest?
Section titled “Do I need an account to use EstimateQuest?”No. EstimateQuest requires no sign-up, no login, and no account. Just create or join a session with a name and code.
Is EstimateQuest free?
Section titled “Is EstimateQuest free?”Yes, completely free with no hidden costs or premium tiers.
How many people can join a session?
Section titled “How many people can join a session?”Up to 50 players (including the moderator) can participate in a single session.
How long does a session last?
Section titled “How long does a session last?”There is no hard time limit. Sessions remain active as long as players are connected. However, sessions with no player heartbeat for 6 hours are automatically closed, and inactive sessions are purged after 8 hours.
Sessions
Section titled “Sessions”Can I change the deck type after creating a session?
Section titled “Can I change the deck type after creating a session?”No. The deck type (Fibonacci, Linear, or T-Shirt) is set at creation and cannot be changed. Create a new session if you need a different deck.
Can I reopen a closed session?
Section titled “Can I reopen a closed session?”No. Once a session is ended or automatically closed, it cannot be reopened. The recap page remains accessible until the session is purged (8 hours after inactivity).
What happens if I close my browser?
Section titled “What happens if I close my browser?”Your profile and session data are saved locally. If you return to the session URL, you’ll be reconnected automatically without needing to rejoin.
Can I have multiple sessions at once?
Section titled “Can I have multiple sessions at once?”Yes, but each browser tab can only be in one session at a time. Open multiple tabs for multiple sessions.
Voting
Section titled “Voting”Can I change my vote?
Section titled “Can I change my vote?”Yes, you can change your vote at any time before the moderator reveals. Click a different card to change, or click the same card to deselect.
Why can’t I vote on this ticket?
Section titled “Why can’t I vote on this ticket?”The ticket is probably not assigned to your group. Only voters in the assigned groups can vote on each ticket. You’ll see a “not your turn” state for tickets outside your group.
What does the ? card mean?
Section titled “What does the card mean?”It means “I don’t have enough information to estimate.” It signals to the moderator that more discussion or context is needed. ? votes are excluded from statistics.
What does the card mean?
Section titled “What does the card mean?”Available only in the Fibonacci deck, the coffee card means “I need a break.” It’s a friendly signal to the moderator that the team could use a pause.
Technical
Section titled “Technical”Why is there no sound?
Section titled “Why is there no sound?”New users start muted by default. Click the speaker icon to unmute. Also check your browser’s audio permissions and system volume.
My session code isn’t working
Section titled “My session code isn’t working”- Codes are 6 characters, case-insensitive
- Make sure you’re entering the most recent code — the moderator may have created a new session
- The session may have been automatically closed after 6 hours of inactivity
The page isn’t loading / I see a blank screen
Section titled “The page isn’t loading / I see a blank screen”- Try a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R / Cmd+Shift+R)
- Check if JavaScript is enabled in your browser
- Clear your browser’s local storage for the site
- Try a different browser
Is my data private?
Section titled “Is my data private?”Session data (names, avatars, votes) is stored temporarily on Convex servers during the session and automatically deleted within 8 hours of inactivity. No personal data is retained long-term. No analytics collect personally identifiable information.
